Over time, countless small improvements have made life smoother. We skip lines. We get directions instantly. We automate work that once consumed entire afternoons. Each innovation solves a real problem, and few of us would willingly give them up.

But something else has happened along the way.

Every time technology makes a decision on our behalf, that's one less decision we practice making ourselves.

Less effort leads to less practice.

Less practice weakens capability.
